ON-TRACK Time Attack, drivers will tackle the 3.27-Mile Virginia International Raceway track and vie for the best single lap during four 20-minute TimeAttack lapping sessions. Awards will be given based on the best time in each class from all of the TA sessions. We will offer 2 groups. One group for folks with some experience and point by passing everywhere. One group for more advanced drivers with open passing on the straights. This event is not set up for the true novice. If you are a true novice, please look at our events at NCCAR April 18-19 or October 10-11.
OFF-TRACK: Spectators are allowed at this event. Crew and families are encouraged to utilize any of the many Spectator viewing areas around VIR.
EARLY ACCESS: Since this event is taking place on Sunday, what can you do if you want to get in early? You can Check In at registration as early as Friday afternoon. Spectating is allowed and encouraged. Come watch the Road Racers and the Race Experience groups. Come to the Saturday evening social. Hang out and have a good time. In addition to spectating, you can sign up to be a volunteer on Saturday, and any time you aren't on Track Sunday in any of the specialties.
VOLUNTEERS: If you would like to volunteer to help during your time that you aren't on track, go to this link and complete the registration. Volunteer options include: F&C, Timing, Tech, Registration, Grid, Pit, and Race Admin. Volunteers are eligible for Camping provided by NCR-SCCA, lunches, Saturday Social dinner, and $50/day worked in VIP.

Event requirements
EVENT RULES:
A. GENERAL RULES
- The Basics: This event is governed by the SCCA Time Trial Rules (TTR), National Competition Format, and National Classing as outlined at timetrials.scca.com, plus the rules and procedures found on this page.

Registration/Check-in: Will be at the VIR Ops Building (1071 Raceplex Dr., Alton, VA). You must check in and get an SCCA wristband before you go on track or start working. Check-in will move to Timing at the beginning of the Driver's meeting on Sunday Morning. If you think you will arrive outside of the registration times, please print out this gate pass to enter without having to pay a fee. You need to return to Registration to check in for the event.

Tech: Will be located at the Tech Shed in the North Paddock. If you DO NOT have advanced safety in your car (Advanced Safety = Aftermarket belts, seats, roll-over protection, etc), you DO NOT need to bring your car to tech, just the completed Time Attack Tech form. If you DO have advanced safety, you will need to bring your car to the tech area. If you have a question about your numbers, you may have Tech check them.

Helmets- If you have a 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 SCCA issued Helmet Sticker, be it from TA, TNiA, Solo, Road Racing, or RallyX- you are good for this event. If you do not, please bring your helmet to tech.

Participant Cancelation Policy Options:
Canceling with a credit or transferring your entry to another driver:
Full amount transfer to another Driver
Full MSR credit to future NCR event that doesn't expire.
Canceling requesting a refund:
You will receive a refund of your entry fee minus $75.
B. PASSING & TRACK PROCEDURES: Groups will use the suggested passing rules and procedures for Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced Drivers as outlined in the “Rules of The Track” section found at timetrials.scca.com.
C. CLOTHING: Drivers are required to wear the minimum clothing outlined in the SCCA Time Attack Rules for their car and class.
D. PACED LAPS: Since this is not a novice driver-only event, we will not be having paced laps at this event.
E. PITS AND PIT LANE: The speed limit on pit road is 25 mph. No tire scrubbing in the pit lane prior to entering the course. Only Event Staff and Officials are allowed in the "pit" areas. Safe apparel must be worn in the pits at all times (shirts and closed-toe shoes).
F. IMPOUND: Since we are running 2 groups back to back, drivers will report back to the grid for post-session debriefs immediately following each session. Anyone who may need to refuel needs to plan accordingly to finish their session early to refuel and then proceed to the debrief session on Grid.
G. TIMING: All cars are required to use transponders to ensure accurate gridding. Non-functioning transponders will result in no time. Rental transponders are included with each entry and will be available at the Drivers' meeting. The driver is responsible for providing the correct information to Timing. Timing is located upstairs in the North Tower.
H. RESULTS/LIVE TIMING: These are provided electronically on https://www.race-monitor.com/live (free but basic info) or the Race-monitor App (Subscription that can be shared with up to 5), along with https://speedhive.mylaps.com/livetiming (Free). I. FLAG PROCEDURES: Black Flag Station and other event-specific flagging procedures will be announced at the Driver's meeting.
J. EVENT SCHEDULE: Actual session start times may be delayed from the published schedule due to unforeseen circumstances during the event. It is the driver’s responsibility to listen to the PA announcements and pay attention to the activity on track. The schedule or run groups may only be changed (or start times advanced) at the discretion of the Competition Director, with concurrence by the Event Lead, depending on pre-race entry counts or as needed to accommodate situations during the event.
K. COMMUNICATIONS: We will utilize PA announcements for most onsite communication. The PA system is rebroadcast on 89.9 FM. Sometimes we will text or email updates as well. Radio frequencies used by event officials may be monitored, but shall not be used for communication by any participant.
L. TRACK LIMITS: Please keep all parts of your car on the paved track at all times. If you are reported to have cut any corners more than once in a weekend, you will be black-flagged. If you cut it again after your first warning, you could be asked to leave.
DRIVER ELIGIBILITY:
The event is open to all drivers with a valid state driver's license and a full or weekend membership to the SCCA. If you don't have a membership, you can JOIN, or we will automatically include a weekend membership when you register.
A. TIME ATTACK LICENSES: It will help if you have one, but it's OK if you don't. Event officials will work with you to make sure you get one that fits your experience level at the event. (No charge, seriously, it's simple, we promise)
B. MEDICAL: Please notify the Officials of any pertinent medical condition(s). Any participants involved in an accident in which there is significant damage or any injury, or at a race official’s discretion, MUST present themselves or be transported to the track medical facility for evaluation. Off-site medical transportation fees may apply.
C. MINOR DRIVERS: Drivers 17 years old or younger can compete, but there is some extra paperwork, so please contact Officials before the event and get approval from the Event Lead.

B. SAFETY RULES: Time Attack Safety Rules
NOTE: All Convertibles roll-over protection is required; it is outlined in the safety link above, but if you have questions, please ask prior to the event! We are happy to help!
Competition is open to all vehicles conforming to the National Time Attack Classes.
C. NUMBERS: All cars must run their assigned number on both sides of the car. Remember, your number must be visible at speed by the corner workers and timing. Numbers must be at least 12 inches high, and the stroke must be 2 inches wide. There must be a color contrast between your number and the background it is on. If your number isn't visible, you will be stopped to correct it.
D. TRANSPONDERS: The transponders we use for this event are MyLaps/AMB TranX260 or X2 Transponders. Need a transponder? We have you covered. We provide rental transponders to all competitors to ensure accurate gridding. If you have your own transponder, awesome! Please make sure to fill in the number when you register. Rental transponders will be distributed each morning at Registration/Check-in. The red MyLaps transponders should hold a charge for the entire event. Please return transponders to Timing or Hospitality before leaving the track. Please go to Timing if you have any transponder questions during the event.
TRACK INFORMATION:
1. RULES OF THE PADDOCK: The paddock is defined as the area adjacent to pit road, false grid, and tech. These rules apply to all paved and grassed areas. You must pay VIR to hook up to power poles in the paddock.The electric power that is available around the perimeter of the paddock is to be shared by all. DO NOT OVERLOAD THE POWER OUTLETS.
2. PADDOCK VEHICLES: Use of ATVs or gasoline-powered pit vehicles is at the discretion of VIR. All motorized pit vehicles must pay for an annual pit vehicle pass with VIR. These vehicles shall be operated in a safe manner and only by licensed individuals. No fireworks, firearms, weapons, or illegal drugs are permitted anywhere on the premises. Animals must be on a leash at all times. Failure to abide by these rules may result in immediate expulsion from the event premises by track management or the organizing region and/or a permanent ban from the track.
3. SOUND CONTROL: A sound limit of 103 db is in effect for everyone's ears.
4. QUIET HOURS: No race engines may be run between 9:00 pm and 7:30 am each day.
5. FACILITIES: VIR is an SCCA-approved 3.27-mile road course.
6. RUN DIRECTION: All sessions will run in the clockwise direction.
7. VIR TRACK RULES:

- 1. FACILITY PROVISIONS: Camping is allowed in the paddock. The following fees will be assessed and should be paid at the VIR guard shack:
- Paddock vehicle: $30.00/Calendar year
- Camping Fee: Tent $40 – RV/Camper/Trailer $70
- Electrical Fee: $40

There is limited electrical power available. Showers and restrooms are indicated on the map in the know before you go. Please be considerate of others regarding all water use and availability.

- PA RE-BROADCAST FREQUENCY: 89.9 FM
- FACILITY ROADS: No cool-down, warm-up or brake bedding allowed in the paddock, parking lots, or on VIR facility roads. This includes areas around the shops and businesses adjacent to VIR. All of these activities must take place on the track. Please plan accordingly.
- VENDORS & FEES: Any photography vendor selling photos onsite will have a $225.00 fee imposed by VIR. This photo vendor fee must be paid at the event. Make checks payable to VIR and turn them in at Registration.
- FUEL: VIR Fuel Info Sunoco Race Fuel is available at VIR. VIR’s fuel pumps are operated by CREDIT CARD ONLY, 24 Hours a day. Sunoco 93 and 100-octane unleaded and 110 leaded and 98-octane (260 GTX) unleaded racing fuels are available.
- DISPOSAL OF WASTE FLUID AND DEBRIS: Use of the drums located in several areas in the paddock(s) is mandatory for used oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, and other polluting material. Participants are to take home with them ALL “environmental debris” including, but not limited to, broken vehicle parts, batteries, scrap metal & tires. Chlorinated brake cleaner is not permitted on the property at VIR.
- EMERGENCY CALLS: In case of an emergency, contact VIR Security at 1-434-822-3109.
- PETS: VIR discourages bringing pets to the track. You must keep your pet leashed at all times and clean up after it. If we see pets unleashed, we will find the owner, and both will be asked to leave. Pets are not allowed in the concession area, inside buildings, on the grid, pit area, or impound.
- DRONES: Use of drones is not permitted.
- ALL VIR PAVED SURFACES: Rules of the Pit and Working Paddock, as listed in the GCR, will be enforced along with the following:
- The North paddock is paved. If you jack a vehicle on asphalt, you MUST have wood under the jack, jack stands, and anything else that might damage the pavement. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Do not pound stakes or make any holes in ANY asphalt surface. Offenders will be fined ($500 per incident) and may be ejected from the event.
- Fuel spills or any spills that may damage paved areas (pits and paddock) must be reported to VIR Security or EMS so they may treat the spill. Reported spills will NOT be fined. Catch pans should be used when refueling at all times.
- VIR mandates that any vehicle seen spilling fuel on the track during any session, including a race, be subject to a black flag.

- ADDITIONAL VIR RULES:
- Fuel Containers, Storage, or refueling is not permitted at any time in a VIR Garage.
- Obey posted speed limits on all VIR property.
- Crew members may go to the outer pit wall to signal their driver, but they are not allowed to remain at the wall. No crew member is allowed at the outer pit wall until after the start of the race. No sitting, standing, or leaning on the pit wall.
- No Smoking in the working pits or grid.
- Sleeved shirts and closed shoes that cover the entire foot must be worn in the hot Pits and Grid areas.
- Minors, pregnant women, and non-member guests are NOT allowed in any hazardous area. Parents are responsible for CLOSELY supervising their children.
- Motorized two/three/four-wheel conveyances may be operated only by a licensed individual.
- During hot track hours, children (under 16) are prohibited from riding bikes, skates, skateboards, and scooters in the paddock.
